257th Birthday Anniversary of Wolfgang Mozart

Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart

(January 27, 1756-December 5, 1791)

Happy Birthday, Mozart!  Joining all Mozart lovers worldwide in celebrating the birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, January 27. This year, 2013, the musical genius turns 257. Actually, I haven't been that keen in counting the master's birthday after he turned 250.

This post especially dedicated to him, provides numerous links to the wunderkind. Enjoy reflective moments in remembering Mozart's life and music.

The photo is the famous birthplace of Wolfgang Mozart, always crowded with tourists from all over the world.  It is at #9 Getreidegasse, Salzburg, on the third floor of this tall house where he was born on January 27, 1756.  Then, it was owned by a family friend, one Johann Lorenz Hagenauer. The family lived on this floor when they were not on tour, from 1747 to 1773.   And no, we are not allowed to take pictures inside, but I had a most wonderful time chatting with the welcoming man in-charge of the place that day.

Wolfgang Amadeus displayed his supreme genius when he was only 3 years old - a child prodigy.

  6. Hi Dais,
Thanks. It's always wonderful to hear from all of you, like old times. Yes, I might listen to the entire video of Die Zauberflote but perhaps not today. It's old production and I hope it's not warped like my Don Giovanni. Time for DVD, perhaps. ;)
    Take care.

  8. Mozartians, I haven't forgotten my promise to post something today. I'm currently listening to Mozart's violin Concertos #2-4, so it'll take a while but divinely enjoying it.

    Have a happy Mozart Day!
