La clemenza di Tito (The Clemency of Titus), K. 621, is an opera seria in two acts composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to an Italian libretto by Caterino Mazzola, after Metastasio, an Italian poet and librettist, considered the most important writer of opera seria libretti. Mozart's La clemenza was started after the bulk of Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute), the last opera that Mozart worked on, was already written. The work premiered on 6 September 1791, at the Estates Theatre in Prague.
Sadly, Mozart did not live to hear the premiere of this opera since he passed away December 5, 1791.
Mozart's opera LA Clemenza di Tito about a power struggle. In ancient Rome, the ambitious daughter of a deposed emperor, Vitellia, manipulates Sesto her lover into attempting to assassinate the new Emperor Tito. The plot revolves around power struggle, political intrigue, love, betrayal, and jealousy, culminating in the test of Emperor Tito's virtue, his decision to show mercy rather than seek vengeance, and the ultimate theme of forgiveness.
