Mozart String Quartets

Classical Music / Mozart String Quartet

Mozart completed some 23 string quartets, the first in 1770, at the age of fourteen, and the last in June 1790, the year before his death, when he wrote the first three quartets of a proposed set of six for the King Friedrich Wilhelm II of Prussia. Most his his compositions in this form were published in groups as part of a single opus.

Considered Mozart's most famous quartet is perhaps String Quartet No. 19 in C Major, KV. 465, nicknamed "Dissonance" on account of its unusual slow introduction.

Mozart loved J.S. Bach's music. He made arrangements for strings of several fugues from Bach's  The Well-Tempered Clavier and composed original preludes to go with each.

Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla

Monarchy / The British Monarchy: May 6

The coronation of Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as king and queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms takes place today, on 6 May 2023, at Westminster Abbey. Charles acceded to the throne on 8 September 2022, upon the death of his mother, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The service will include Charles being anointed, symbolising his spiritual entry into kingship, and then his crowning and enthronement, representing his assumption of temporal powers and responsibilities. Camilla is to be crowned in a shorter and simpler rite. After the service the royal family is expected to travel to Buckingham Palace in a state procession, and appear on the palace's balcony. Charles and Camilla's coronation service has been altered from past British coronations to represent multiple faiths, cultures, and communities across the United Kingdom.  Read more: wiki.
